One Last Page 19

Even though this page is a mess, I’m moving on to page 20. I’ve dawdled here for almost a month while starting a part-time job and getting a new puppy. I’m just going to move on and come back to it later. I’m not sure about the thick paint effect from using Rebelle to do the background, and the colors are too muted for a cheery children’s picture book. There’s a lot going on in this picture and it got out of control while I was distracted. So, my comfortable old friend Page 19, I’m moving another inch forward. Do not fear — I shall return to liberate you from the mess I’ve made while I was in a month-long state of chaos.

Long live Page 19 and long live its successor, Page 20.

A View from the Deck

My puppy kept me busy all day. I’ve walked him at least six times and my partner walked him as many. That’s life with a 10-week old puppy.

In all of the activity, I rejoiced that I found a couple of hours to work out on the treadmill and then do a sketch.the view our deck. The little houses are my favorite part of this picture. This picture may not look it, but it was done with a pencil brush and a heavy application of the smudge tool.

Chore Day, April 24, 2021: Puppy Day

Nacho the Pug…that’s what today was about. In the few spare moments I was given, I managed to squeeze in doing the laundry and vacuuming, but every remaining moment was focused on Nacho.

I also managed to snap a photo of my webtoon notebook. This is only sketch I’ve done so far. All I know is that there’s a community college involved and all of the students and teachers are animals. There’s a time, too. It’s going to be awesome fun…when I get the time to work on it.

Page 17, cleaned up

Today was a busy day at my Real World job. I knew that today would be crazy — I have to review and critique about 80 submissions. I started yesterday and hope to be done by tomorrow night. I wish myself luck!

Even though I had a crazy day, I still had enough time to make one inch of progress on page 17. I cleaned up some of the paint, fixed some shadows, added some more moai on the volcano’s slope, and added a text bubble. Besides all that, I added some comix fonts to my pc — I lost all of my comix fonts when I made a fresh install of Windows, but I may find them yet on my previous startup drive.

I’m always surprised at how much I can get done when I have little time, when I’m in the right frame of mind. We’ll see how that works out when our new 10-week old puppy becomes part of our family next week.
