Circus tents, one more time

I drew these tents with the bezier tool. I wanted to make the stripes smoother and they are smoother. Despite that, I like yesterday’s hand-drawn tents more. I was in a hurry as I was copying and pasting and didn’t notice until too late that one of the tents is floating in the air. Perspective, please, Mr. Artist!

Too static and not too static

The sketch on the right was my fourth attempt to draw the orange tabby shrugging her shoulders apologetically. I changed my strategy with the picture on the left and sketched with a fuzzy brush, which the Clip Studio Paint “design pencil” is. Fuzzy is better, in this case.

The foreshortening of her hands was the most difficult part of the sketch. When I realized I was floundering, I took some photos of myself doing her pose. I have to keep reminding myself to obey the rules I make for myself, the first of which is, Before sketching get some good reference photos.

I tried to make this static scene a little more interesting by changing the perspective to be upwards looking. When I look at the drawing as a small thumbnail, I can see that I have some work to do! Betty looks almost okay, but Tuca isn’t elongated enough. If the perspective were as I want it to be, the two would appear to be leaning in toward each other. I’ll fix that tomorrow.

I had my yearly medical checkup today. At 7am I drove to Medford for my appointments. My dermatologist zapped a half dozen precancerous growths on my head and face with his dandy liquid nitrogen spray and pronounced all of the other spots, bumps, and growths to be benign.

Next up I went for my yearly checkup with my internal medicine guy. My cholesterol is awesome and my blood work has improved. On the drive home from Medford I felt relieved. Too many times I’ve gone for my annual and received bad news. Today was a good day.
