Redrawing Page 27, Replacing an Adult Toucan with Kid Jaguar

Tommy Toucan appeared in five pictures. Today I replaced him in three of them, and I’ll complete the job tomorrow. I spent the morning drawing baby jaguars. They’re really cute, but my drawing were not. I decided that my jaguar will be a 10-year old kid, a gangly beast with teeth. Seriously, there’s nothing funny about adult jaguars. Why not show a few teeth?

The lesson is that backtracking is painful. It hurts to realize that a character you like to draw does not advance the story, or worse, makes the story worse. Fixing the problem takes time, even days. But, in the end the project benefits. You gotta do what you gotta do, even if it hurts.
