For today’s challenge I copied an image from Moebius’ The World of Edena. Stel is standing in the middle of a wilderness, wondering whether the monster got tired of chasing him. I made a pencil sketch then inked with a Copic ink brush. When I finished inking the hour was almost up. To save some time I decided it would be convenient to use my iPad to color the picture. I took a photo and got started. Once I began coloring, I immediately missed Clip Studo Paint and my pen display. I stubbornly persisted with the iPad and eventually wasted an hour trying to do a few simple things (create a gradient). I gave up trying to get Procreate to do things it wasn’t designed to do. The iPad is a nifty piece of technology for consuming videos, Youtube, etc., but it sucks in so many ways when you need real desktop applications. Tablet apps don’t do what I need to do. And the iPad’s screen is too small.

Eventually I scanned the drawing as 600dpi as a black and white image, colored it in Clip Studio Paint and cleaned it up in Photoshop.
