More Sketches and Storyboarding for My Children's Picture Book

Today I gave up on Rebelle 4 … there just were too many annoying problems. Sometimes the brushes were unresponsive, then sometimes they were perfect. There were many times when my iMac sounded like a jet plane howling to lift off the runway. The online Rebelle mavens seemed to think that 32GB of ram would solve the problem. In other words, I needed a better computer. Hmmm…Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint EX seem happy enough with 16GB! What’s up, Rebelle?

I had to decide whether Rebelle’s awesome brushes outweighed its annoyances. Should I load my iMac up with Ram? Would I be able to overcome my frustration with Rebelle and just deal with it, even if I waste time getting things working? Would I be able to move ahead with my third book and finish it on schedule? Then there’s a bigger question — is playing with Rebelle just a distraction? Am I crazy to start learning to use new software when I’m in the middle of a project? I think I’ve been here before.

So, I decided to be sensible. I would put Rebelle away and revisit it when I have leisure time, which will probably be never. I will do the sensible thing and continue to use the tools that I know best: Clip Studio Paint EX and Photoshop.
