Pentel Brush Pen with colors by Photoshop

In honor of the Al Fresco Art club, which has been on hiatus since the arrival of the new family member, Nacho the Pug, I held a little private solo session and drew a sleeping beauty with my Pentel Brush Pen. I used a reference photo for inspiration and attempted to capture a likeness, which I did not. I’m satisfied that I made something that looked human. When I was done with smearing ink around, I scanned the sketch with my A3 scanner, then added some colors and shadows in Photoshop.

Chore Day, May 9, 2020: Cooking and Sketching

As expected, I cooked up some veggie burgers for my pug. I should mention that I did more weed whacking, and then the laundry. In other words, the same chores as last week. But, I got done a little early and had time to read. I’m currently re-reading Nausicaä by Hayao Miyazaki. He’s a master of pen and ink. I attempted a copy of one of the simpler images in the 1,800 page book.

Sunday al fresco sketch of the Southern Oregon Siskiyous

This my third al fresco sketch. As I collected my gear I was thinking that there’s nothing interesting in my back yard. Could I be bored with the Al Fresco Art Club already? Once I seated myself under one of our dominating deodor cedars, I looked to the East and noticed some large cumulonimbus clouds over the distant Siskiyou mountain range. There was interesting atmospheric perspective (which I didn’t capture in my sketch), and my partner, wearing her Van Gogh straw hat, sat in the foreground painting in her sketchbook.

I used my Pentel Brush pen for inking. It’s pretty beat up — it doesn’t come to a point anymore, but then again, it never did, really. I did a rough sketch with a 2H pencil then inked the sketch with the brush pen. It was fun, and not at all boring.
