Time Enough for a Krita Crayon Doodle

I spent the day preparing for a welcome to the game video. I’m going to create the video using OBS.

As for art, I had 15 minutes to spare and used the time to make some marks. I feel weird if a day passes with some kind of drawing. Even a simple doodle helps me feel that I’ve done something. In some way even a doodle is an inch of progress.

I used the Krita crayons for this little free-form doodle.

Doodling an alien community college student

Again, the remains of my day granted me a few moments to doodle. For some reason I wanted to draw an alien who happens to be an exchange student at an imaginary school named Subliminal Community College.

Now that my part-time job is coming to an end at the end of May, I’ll have more time to focus on my children’s picture book. I’ll have a few months of Art time before another part-time job starts in September.

I drew this picture with Alex Dukal’s Dry Fine Point Photoshop Brush. Buy his brushes at his shop.

Doodling

Not a lot to say today. I started the day with a burst of enthusiasm and optimism and got bogged down in the actual work of getting my characters to look as good as I imagine them. It’s harder than I expected, as usual. By the end of the day I was able to restore my art soldier spirit and continue slogging through the swamp, gaining a small inch movement forward to my March 31 publication deadline.

All that slogging and soul searching led to doodling, which is guaranteed to lift anyone’s spirits.

Drawing Club Day

It’s Sunday and I’m beat. As much as I’d like go, go, go 24/7 on my children’s book, I’m weary and my tail is dragging. The thought of cracking open inDesign or Procreate is more than I can deal with. So…I’ve decided that I need one day a week, every week, to turn down the volume and have some fun.

What is fun? Fun is watching videos about historical figures, medieval life, Roman history. Fun is going outside to sketch with the drawing club, or staying inside to practice using Artrage, my current favorite digital painting application. Fun is shutting down at 6:30 pm and watching some kind of corny romantic comedy. Fun is reading a Clive Cussler thriller before dropping off to sleep. That’s what fun is.

And doodling is fun, too.

day of rest, doodle, having some fun
